Supporting Business Development
Creation of more diversified, well-paying jobs with benefits is the cornerstone of the Cambridge Economic Development's business-development efforts. That includes building on the strengths in this community to assist retention and expansion of existing businesses, support new business start-ups, and target business-recruitment opportunities that diversify our economy and provide employment opportunities.
Given that Cambridge is an agricultural community, one high accomplishment in this arena was Nebraska Corn Processing's decision to locate an ethanol production facility here, expanding the business community, as well as the tax and population bases.
Toward supporting continued business development, the Cambridge Economic Development Board is tightly focused on existing-business support and housing development for future growth - so folks who work in Cambridge may also live in Cambridge, thus building the sense of community and belonging.
